‘cc’ simply stands for cubic centimetres which refers to the capacity of the motorcycle engine.
125cc bikes are considered light-weight motorcycles.
A great course for beginners.

A2 Motorcycle License –

FULL LICENCE – DIRECT ACCESS SCHEME (DAS)

The Direct Access Scheme, or DAS as it is sometimes known, allows riders to gain a full licence to ride larger bikes in a short space of time. There are two routes depending on your age.

IF YOU’RE BETWEEN 19 TO 23 YEARS OLD…

You can complete an A2: Standard licence which allows you to ride bikes up to 47 Brake horsepower (Bhp) (35kW). You must have already passed the D.V.S.A. theory test for motorcycles and hold a current CBT certificate.

The practical test must be taken on a motorcycle of at least 395cc that produces between 26 and 47Bhp (20 and 35kw). We have brand new Yamaha MT-07 motorcycles that have been restricted so you may ride them for this course.

IF YOU’RE 24 YEARS OLD OR OLDER…

You can complete an A: Unrestricted licence which allows you to ride any size of machine with any power output. You must have already passed the DVSA theory test for motorcycles and hold a current CBT certificate.

The practical test must be taken on a motorcycle of at least 595cc that produces a minimum of 54Bhp (40kw). We have brand new Kawasaki ER650 and Yamaha MT-07 motorcycles that may ride for this course.

IMPORTANT INFO

Please note that training course lengths are determined by the individual’s level of competence. The number of days spent on training is advised by our instructors after an assessment of your riding skills. This assessment can be carried out when the CBT road ride is undertaken. Alternatively, if you can already ride and have a current CBT and theory test certificate, you can ring us to arrange a free assessment 01293 413330.

Remember, if you want to practice for your full A or A2 licence, you must be accompanied by a professionally qualified DSA approved motorcycle instructor, not just a full motorcycle licence holder. Once you hold both required certificates (motorcycle theory test and CBT) this can be achieved over three to eight days training.

Return courses are for those full licence holders who would like to top up their existing skills after they have passed their test whether not having ridden for as little as a few months or many years. We have a couple of options depending on your needs. We can offer either a one and a half hour One to One session from £59, or a whole day (7 hours) from £180.

This course is also ideal for those returning to biking after a long break, enabling the rider to practice on any problem areas such as cornering or overtaking with a qualified instructor, thus providing a perfect stepping stone towards taking their advanced training course.

These courses are structured to your own individual needs. The day will start at our 12,000 sq ft training pad, using first a 125cc machine if necessary and then on to the 500cc bike for some brushing up with your machine control before getting you back on the road. The course will finish at with a full appraisal of the ride and your options for further training, such as the ERS Course.

So don’t worry if you haven’t ridden for a good few months or even a few years, this is the course to get you back on two wheels safely. These courses can be run every day through the year subject to the weather. Snow, ice, very high winds, flooding or poor visibility may result in your course being postponed.

It is amazing the amount of money that is spent on motorcycles making them look better, go faster and stop quicker. Doing an Advanced Motorcycle Training course with one of our R.P.M.T.* approved Instructors will help you achieve all of these and will cost you a lot less whilst gaining up to 17% discount from all the leading bike insurers in the UK.

The Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS) is all about getting the most from your riding and your machine. You can take this accessory from motorcycle to motorcycle and it won’t depreciate in price.
With advanced motorcycle training you will:

  • Increase your riding skills and abilities
  • Learn to avoid unexpected situations
  • Be safer and more vigilant
  • Learn to ride smoother and faster but safer
  • Gain greater control of your motorcycle

If you decide an advanced motorcycle training course is for you, then you will learn a valuable insight from the experience of others. Rest assured that you will enjoy your time with us and you could also reap the additional benefits such as more favourable insurance discounts, You can gain skills and knowledge from veterans in the business that will help in many ways you never thought possible.

The enjoyment gained from riding a motorcycle skilfully is second to none. However, it takes confidence, excellent riding skills, physical co-ordination and balance. Keeping your skills up to date and checking that you have not become overconfident, complacent or picked up bad habits is something that few of us do.

The DSA, along with the motorcycle industry, has put together a new package of training known as the Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS).
The scheme is beneficial to all bike riders who have a full motorcycle licence, no matter what size of bike, or the experience level of the rider. There is no test involved and you may not need to take any training if your skills are assessed as satisfactory. You will also earn discounts on your insurance as a result!
