The Models for 2015
Fresh from the launch of their new Scrambler, Ducati have used the EICMA show in Milan to launch a whole host of updated machines for 2015…
First up, the ever popular Multistrada (standard and S model) get all new styling and variable valve timing that gives a significant boost in engine performance to 160bhp. The S version will feature LED lights as well as an innovative see-round-the-corner function. Both models will come without panniers but there will be four optional extra kits.
The race derived Panigale will come with a bigger capacity at 1299cc, producing an incredible 205bhp as well as better low to midrange power. A new wider styled fairing and higher screen will make riding comfier while the S model will feature Ohlins active suspension as standard. This all-new suspension system is connected to the engine and ECU and will react instantly to your riding – under hard accelerating the rear will stiffen to stop squat while heavy breaking will see the front stiffen. Superbike racers will get a brand new Panigale R that also features 205bhp as well as a host of Superleggera parts.
Elsewhere, the Diavel will come in a limited edition (just 500!) run of Titanium, that features titanium tank, seat cover etc. The Monster 1200 and 821 will also have slightly sportier versions, with white stripe bikini fairing and adjustable forks.
Ducati have also recently unveiled the world’s first motorcycle engine with variable timing of both the intake and exhaust camshafts, the Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing). Overcoming an engineering gap in current production engines, Ducati’s innovative new engine will lead the way for a whole new generation of such engines.
Optimising engine performance throughout the rev range, and operating in any condition, it will guarantee the highest power, smooth delivery and muscular torque at low rpm as well as reduced fuel consumption.
