The Marquez Show?
With the MotoGP paddock assembled and ready to kick off the 2015 season on Thursday, the question on everyone’s lips has to be… Will anyone be able to stop Marquez taking his third title?
The young sensation has been in in imperious form during pre-season testing, however just as he did last year, he’ll face tough competition from teammate Dani Pedrosa and the Yamaha duo of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo – who have all shown impressive pace during testing.
Perhaps the biggest surprise however has been the resurgence of the factory Ducati team, thanks to the all-new GP15. Both Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso topped the final two day test at Qatar, which may be an ominous sign ahead of this weekend’s opening race.
This season also sees the Championship welcome back two new manufacturers as Suzuki return with Aleix Espargaro and rookie Maverick Vinales riding their GSX-RR and Aprilia are back in an official capacity with Marco Melandri and Alvaro Bautista on the RS-GP.
Our home-grown talent look set to have our most successful year in decades as Bradley Smith remains with the Tech 3 Yamaha squad while Cal Crutchlow and Scott Redding get their hands on factory Honda equipment. Eugene Laverty returns to the paddock after his recent successes in World Superbikes to race the customer Honda.
