Carl Cox Motorsport P&H Motorcycles Ducati Team Take Brands Double
Reigning Ducati TriOptions Cup champion Dennis Hobbs made a faultless start to his title defence at Brands Hatch as he powered his Carl Cox P&H Motorcycles Ducati 899 to a double victory around the short 1.2 mile circuit. Team mate Leon Morris enjoyed a strong weekend by kick-starting his campaign with a podium.
With cool and windy conditions gracing the short Brands Hatch Indy circuit for opening free practice, the Carl Cox P&H Motorcycles duo started strongly with reigning champion Dennis Hobbs setting the second best time, with Leon Morris in eighth. Improving for qualifying, the duo ran consistently at the sharp end, with Hobbs eventually securing second on the grid with Morris fourth.
Taking a strong start, Hobbs ran second into the opening corner where he entered a race long tussle with Rob Guiver. Despite crossing the line in second, Guiver was later disqualified from the results meaning Hobbs was crowned victor. Enjoying a good start, Morris ran fourth for much of the race, holding off a late charge from Sean Neary to claim fourth at the line, before being moved to third following Guiver’s disqualification.
With the second race being held on Sunday, the team were able to dial in new settings to the Ducati 899 Panigale machines. Again taking a strong start, Hobbs moved into second on the opening lap before taking the lead on lap three. Controlling the race from the front, Hobbs crossed the line 0.141s ahead to take his second win of the season. Unable to match his race one position, Morris eventually finished sixth.
After the opening race of the year, Dennis Hobbs now leads the Ducati TriOptions Cup, with Leon Morris in third.
Speaking after the race, Dennis Hobbs said “To take both wins here at Brands is mega. I was actually really happy with finishing second yesterday as it’s just good to get your first race under the belt but to end up getting full points is great.
I felt really comfortable in the second race and to take the win on track this time was extra sweet. You can’t win a championship at the first round of the year but we’ve certainly shown we’re going to be challenging for it again!”
