I am not normally one to provide feedback but, as a complete newbie to the world of riding I find myself wanting to comment.

In my position I can guarantee you that this pass time is completely confusing and made worse by the fact that mistakes can be costly to you body and wallet. Having looked at many websites there were a multitude of views and many conflicting.

I had been informed by a couple of friends that P&H is great place to see bikes, kit etc and try stuff on but, expensive.  Whilst I listened to them I always like to form my own view so as soon as I was booked in for my CBT and DAS I ventured in to see  what was what.

First impression on entering the site (having driven past it for 20 years) Wow!  Far larger than it looks on the outside and with a comprehensive selection of just about everything for biking (novice view).

Having declared my position to the sales assistant on the clothing desk (Emma?) she was very understanding and took me through the whole area finding suitable kit to cover me head to toe.  She managed to serve other customers (there were many) whilst at no point making me feel unattended.  There was no pressure at any point or any feeling of “o no another newbie with no idea”. 

At the end of picking everything out I was advised that it could all be put aside and held for me with no need to commit there and then.  That was appreciated.  I did ask what deal I could secure and was given a much improved price. I took the opportunity to go away and consider my potential purchase.

One week later I returned and spoke with a different sales assistance (young man, obviously a keen biker and helps prepare the race bikes).  Having given him my name he collected the equipment set aside and patiently answered my 101 questions as I went through the process of trying it all on again (Again very much appreciated). 

I had run out of time the week before and not managed to finalise a decision on which boots to buy.  He listened to my requirements and fitting issues and then collected up a number of boots within my budget. We very quickly found a pair that fitted really well.

When we had finalised a price, he pointed out that my helmet came with a Pinlock. I had no idea what that was; which was clear, so he and another assistant kindly  fitted it and provided me an overview.

I had bags of stuff so he offered to help me to the car to save me making multiple trips.  Clearly he had listened to my many questions as he took me past the Kawasaki desk to introduce me to the Sales person as I want a ER6F for my first bike. He was able to advise that this is a great first bike after DAS and reinforced the message that whilst I ultimately want a Ducatti 899 getting a year or two on the Kawasaki was be a great way to progress. The Ducatti was a great bike but, not a place to start.

I had looked on the web to compare pricing during the week leading up to making a purchase but, with the price we were able to agree for buying everything and more importantly the great advice and welcoming nature of the P&H team I am confident that purchasing at the store was the right thing to do.

All being well I will be back very shortly to buy the ER6F!

I’d just like to say a huge thanks to the team who were involved in my latest purchase at P&H. I have been looking for a Monster 1100 for a while and when one came in to you 2 weeks ago, I was obviously keen to secure it and ride out as soon as possible. Your team ensured that the bike was ready in less than a week, prior to me going on holiday so it was ready at home to ride on my return.

It was a pleasure again to deal with you all from the initial call with Will and then the sterling efforts from the Service team to get the bike MOT’d, serviced, new tirckle charger and ‘sale ready’ at a very busy period for you. As I have been looking for a while I have been to many showrooms but you guys still provide outstanding service above and beyond what I have seen many of the others.

Dear P&H

On behalf on my son and myself, I’d like to send a thank you to the guys in the service department who dealt with us recently! From the initial discussions with Stuart, to the actual work with Mark and finally right through to collection with Luke, I found the entire experience quite refreshing! In that at all times the staff were courteous, cooperative, informative and considerate to my son and I! This was across the board with all of the guys we dealt with!

I will not hesitate to use P&H in the future when the need arises… nor will I miss an opportunity to recommend the service department at P&H!

Good morning,

I am just writing to inform you of how incredibly pleased I was with the service I received yesterday from the clothing department.

I dropped my bike off for a service and began looking through the clothing section for a new jacket. I approached Mitch to ask a question about Gore-Tex and not only did he clearly know his stuff, he then spent over an hour with myself and my partner whilst I tried on several sets of clothing (some of them several times).

His patience and knowledge made me feel very comfortable and as a result of having as much time as I wanted to really make the right choice, I ended up applying for finance and spending over £700.

I walked out wearing new boots, new trousers, new back protector and a new jacket. I know without a doubt that the entire sale was because of Mitch's patience and assistance.

I just wanted this to be passed on to his Manager. Whilst I always get excellent service in your shop, this was on another level.

I would just like to thank you for your professional but fun way of dealing with my purchase of a Honda and part-exchanging my Kawasaki.

From the way you dealt with the paperwork to going over the details of the bike before I took it away, letting me know what to expect from it - such as how to run in the brakes and tyres. Nothing seemed to much trouble for both you and Ray. Not many dealerships do that for you and it was one of the reasons I returned to P&H for my second purchase. I will certainly be back again if I need another bike.

Thank you for your email.

I can't tell you how chuffed I am that I successfully completed the CBT. I can't believe it that when I came to do my New Rider 1 hour taster on the 24th August I really hadn't even sat on a bike before, and now I've got my CBT!! As I said to Dave on Sunday afternoon the first hour on the road in the afternoon was a bit daunting, but I really settled down by the second hour, and felt so at home on the bike!

It was really nice for Dave to say that he saw no reason why I couldn't progress to do my full licence. It is something that I will definitely be doing. I didn't realise that you were able to offer 0% finance on that. That will certainly help!!

For now, the sensible part of me is saying get some experience at riding, and in different conditions, before I do my full test. I have today bought myself a bike! a Yamaha YBR125 Custom. It's being delivered in a week or so. I'll send a photo once I've got it! Now that I've got my CBT I just want to get out riding!

Rest assured that I will be doing my full licence before long, and obviously I will be doing the training with you guys. I really can't thank you all enough. Dave was fantastic on Sunday. Patient, clear, understanding, encouraging, helpful.......I could go on. Also, the general organisation of the whole company - from your user-friendly website, to the text message reminders, and all-round helpful attitude makes me feel (and I'm sure others like me) a very special customer/student.

All I need to do now is save some money for the full licence course/training, (although the 0% might be handy there), and then take some time off work. Before then, however, I need to get my theory test out of the way. Is that something that I could/should/would do myself, or would I need to organise that via yourselves? If I get that out of the way in the next couple of months do you have fairly good availability for the full licence course? (How long does the theory test last for once (assuming) I've passed it?).

Anyway, thanks again Steve, for making everything so painless. The only thing I'm left asking myself, is why I haven't done all of this earlier!!!!

I hope it won't be too long before I'm booking lessons for the full licence :-)

As a customer of P&H motorcycles for the last seven years with 2 KTMs, I have always found the service to be friendly and efficient.

I'd just like you to know that these positive attributes were surpassed yesterday by Like in Service and your young technician Matt. My SMT 990's speedo and ABS were not working, just before it was going to be ridden in France next week.

I explained my predicament by a phone call to Luke on Thursday. He asked me to bring it in on Friday morning, and he and Matt inspected the problem, had the bike in, and I collected it fixed the same afternoon.

This was outstanding service beyond my expectations, and I remain extremely grateful and impressed - and I felt I should convey my satisfaction to you.

I shall continue to recommend P&H Motorcycles to my friends.
