Ducati 1199 Panigale makes public debut
The 1199 Panigale produces 195bhp with a dry weight of just 164kg.The much-anticipated Ducati 1199 Panigale has finally been unveiled to the public at a press conference in Milan.
Ducati used the event to unveil its full range of 2012 machines, which includes the popular 848EVO and the new Streetfighter 848, as well as Cromo and AMG special editions of the Diavel.
Yet it was the Panigale that was the real star of the show, with its typically aggressive styling seemingly matched by exceptional levels of performance.
The chassis of the Ducati superbike has been specially designed to give the feeling of a full race machine, while the innovative monocoque has shed enough pounds from the frame to give the Panigale a dry weight of just 164kg.
Combine this with the world's most powerful twin-cylinder engine capable of producing 195bhp, the Superquadro, and the Panigale has a truly astonishing power to weight ratio.
The Panigale and the rest of the Italian manufacturer's line-up of motorcycles will be exhibited at the 2011 EICMA show in Milan later this week.
