Ben Spies confident with Yamaha M1 and Ohlins forks
Ben Spies was pleased with his bike set-up in QatarYamaha rider Ben Spies has declared himself pleased with the set up of his MotoGP bike and its Ohlins suspension systems.
The American rider completed a number of testing laps at the two day session in Qatar, finding the best settings for his Ohlins forks and engine to get the most grip through the corners.
Overall, the Texan said he was very happy with the outcome of the test, despite being overshadowed somewhat by the Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner, who continue to top the timesheets in pre-season.
"We tried a few different things today and improved the bike some more. We've now got a couple of days to look over the data ready for the four-day weekend, there'll be plenty more riding opportunities before Sunday," he said.
Sunday (March 20th) sees the 2011 MotoGP season begin with a night race in Qatar, with Spies and teammate Jorge Lorenzo looking to continue the Yamaha M1's dominance from recent years.
