MotoGP championship leader Jorge Lorenzo is expecting a strong challenge from fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa on his Honda motorcycle this weekend.

The pinnacle of motorcycle racing returns the riders to their homeland for the seventh round of the championship in Catalonia.

With Valentino Rossi and his distinctive motorcycle leathers missing from the race due to a broken leg, fans will be hoping Pedrosa can step in and create a spectacle similar to the one Lorenzo and Rossi created in Barcelona last year.

Lorenzo certainly thinks that the Honda rider will be his main competition.

He told the MotoGP website: "In theory Pedrosa is the favourite apart from us as he is second in the Championship, so together with Stoner he is the most dangerous.

"But every race is different so we will see what happens."

Earlier this week, Pedrosa's teammate Andrea Dovizioso expressed his confidence that he too would be in the mix for a result in Barcelona.
