Kousuke Akiyoshi will put on the motorcycle leathers for Interwetten Honda at this weekend's (June 26th) Dutch TT and Catalunya Grand Prix, the team has confirmed.

He will replace Hiroshi Aoyama, who unfortunately broke a vertebra in a crash during the warm-up session at Silverstone this month.

Aoyama is expected to be out of action for the next couple of months and Interwetten Honda is reportedly seeking a "stable" replacement for him after Barcelona.

"We hope he will have a quick recovery and that he will be back with us as strong as he was before as soon as possible," said team boss Daniel Epp.

He added: "At the moment we don't have a rider apart from Assen and Barcelona and we are looking for a suitable solution."

Honda will be hoping that Akiyoshi can repeat his 2007 performance at the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, where he took the victory for Suzuki along with Yukio Kagayama.
