Racing will return to Donington Park
Racing set to return to Donington ParkFor several months the site, a favourite with bikers and the hosts of dozens of MotoGP races, has been left in limbo because of financial difficulties.
But now the future looks brighter, after owner Kevin Wheatcroft reached an agreement in principle for Adroit Group to run the circuit on a 25-year lease.
Some £2 million is expected to be spent on Donington Park to bring it back up to FIA standards so it can host races again.
There had been hopes of a return of Formula 1 to the circuit, but the dream fell through when funding could not be acquired.
"We feel we have found the right people to move Donington forward into a new and exciting future," Wheatcroft commented.
Bikers could also be able to put their motorcycle leathers to good use when Donington Park is revived and take part in track days.
