National Motorcycle Week launches 'Spread the Word' to take your test before changes in legislation Oct 08.
The Motorcycle Industry Association organises each year, National Motorcycle Week which promotes motorcycling and the benefits associated with it. The campaign aims to demonstrate to the public, media and politicians the number of motorcyclists in the UK and at the same time it emphasises the important point that owners are from all walks of life and that riding has social, environmental and economic benefits.
Huddersfield University researched rider's attitudes in a project 'The Search for Adventure in Motorcycling' and found that, freedom, fun and friendship emerged as important themes for riders – along side fulfillment. The active rider population in the UK is 1.5 million with an estimated 5 million people having a driving licence with moped/motorcycle entitlement.
As part of National Motorcycle Week, 'Ride 2 Work' day will be held on July 16th. It high lights the fact that motorcycling not only cuts congestion, pollution and journey times, it is convenient, flexible and cost effective. On this day riders encourage their non biking friends and colleagues to experience the thrills of two-wheels and get them to hop on board for a pillion ride.
This year's theme is 'Spread the Word'. The industry aims to encourage more new people into motorcycling before the new legislation is introduced in 2008. The new legislation means that people will have to complete more difficult tasks to pass their test, probably travel further to take their test, and it will cost more in time and money to complete.
Throughout National Motorcycle Week events will be taking place across the UK as dealers, companies and individuals organise a range of activities. P&H Motorcycles, are inviting anyone interested in getting started in motorcycling along during National Motorcycle Week. This is your chance to have a chat with sales and training staff.
