Motorcycle leathers protect riders at Barcelona meeting

Dovizioso was protected by his leathers after his crashHaving formed a two-man breakaway at the front with Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo, Dovizioso was pushing hard from second place when he fell on lap 14 of the Barcelona race.
It left Lorenzo with an easy ride home to his third straight win, as his nearest challengers Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner were involved in their own tussle for what became second place after Dovizioso's error.
Lorenzo now has a 52 point lead over Pedrosa and told the official MotoGP site that the win was a "special" one.
Also grateful for the role played by his motorcycle helmet and leathers was Moto 2 rider Carmelo Morales, who touched wheels on the main straight and was catapulted into the wall at high speed.
Thanks to his protective motorcycle clothing however, he walked away with just minor bumps and bruises.
