Bikes 'should have front plates'
Front plates 'should be fitted to bikes'The RAC Foundation wants motorcycle helmet wearers to be recognised from the front by the photographs though the addition of number plates.
This would allow police officers using Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) devices to pick up uninsured or untaxed bikes, the body told MotorCycleNews.
The research organisation, separate from the breakdown company, commented: "We think that if it could be done safely then there's a very good reason why it should be done.
"Then ANPR cameras would be able to pick up motorcycles in exactly the same way they can four-wheeled vehicles."
Last month, Philip Hammond revealed in one of his first speeches as transport minister that the government would not provide funding for any new speed cameras and pledged to "end the war on motorists".
