MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa keeps hopes alive
Dani Pedrosa still believes he can overtake Jorge Lorenzo.Respol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa believes the MotoGP title is still wide open despite trailing championship leader Jorge Lorenzo by 38 points.
Pedrosa suffered a disastrous San Marino Grand Prix at the last race, crashing out as his fellow Spaniard cruised to victory.
Despite the gloom surrounding that performance, however, the Honda rider has high hopes for the remainder of the season.
Speaking ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix this weekend, he told motogp.com: "This is another important race, and we’ll try to carry on as before, riding well."
Injured teammate Casey Stoner missed the last race, giving World Superbike rider Jonathan Rea the chance to shine in MotoGP.
Whether the Australian will be able to assist Pedrosa in his assault on the title remains open to debate.
"We will have to see in what condition he comes back, how he is physically and what his pace is," added the Spaniard.
"Now, it is difficult to know whether or not it can be a help."
Pedrosa has five races left in which catch Lorenzo's Yamaha. After Aragon the next stop is Japan, with the final rounds in Malaysia, Australia and Valencia.
