Valentino Rossi 'needs surgery now'
Rossi's shoulder injury has developed into a serious problem.Valentino Rossi has been advised by former 500cc champ Wayne Gardner to go for surgery now, following the star's ongoing problems with a shoulder injury sustained at a MotoGP event in April.
Rossi was no doubt glad to be wearing his motorcycle clothing when he crashed at the Jerez practice earlier this year, but the injury he suffered is hampering his progress even more than his broken leg in June, Crash.net reports.
After witnessing a troubled Sunday race at Aragon, Gardner has said Rossi needs medical treatment more than he needs to finish the season.
"There's zero benefit from riding in pain for the rest of the year, battling for positions he would normally be able to achieve with one hand tied behind his back," he told the website.
In a poll of Crash.net readers recently, 74 per cent of fans said Rossi should withdraw from the season and get surgery in preparation for his new start at Ducati next year.
