Swinton insurance has advised bikers to add reflective gear to their motorcycle clothing as the late nights begin to draw in.

As the evenings get darker and visibility becomes worse, bikers become harder for drivers to spot. However, a survey of 1,200 riders by the insurer revealed that one in three wait until November before they don reflective attire.

Additionally, nearly three-quarters of fashion-conscious bikers are loath to spoil their motorbike clothing with the full reflective vests, deciding instead to wear armbands or sashes or put a reflective sticker on their bike.

"High visibility clothing is an essential item in any motorcyclist's kit and we urge our customers to prepare for winter as early as possible," commented Anthony Aronin, head of Swinton Bikes.

Dorset County Council's transport chief Peter Finney recently saddled up on a Honda CBF 1000 to undertake a safety course led by a local group of bikers, according to Bridport News.
