Scots police stress importance of motorcycle clothing
Grampian Police have stressed the need for bikers to wear protective clothingGrampian Police have been talking to bikers in the area about the importance of motorcycle clothing.
Around 350 bike enthusiasts attended a roadshow organised by the force, which is aimed at improving safety for riders on public roads, the Banffshire Journal reports.
As part of the plan to drive home the importance of motorcycle clothing, officers performed a drag test with a dummy dressed in jeans and a fleece top.
Assistant Chief Constable Derek Penman said: "September is the month which historically records the highest number of motorcycle collisions.
"This event has been about engaging with motorcyclists to get this message across."
Mr Penman went on to say that this message would form part of a wider course of education for all road users, as the force looks to make riding conditions as safe as possible.
Hertfordshire County Council recently urged riders to make sure they wear protective clothing when using bikes - even in the intense summer heat.
