Spies to confirm switch to factory motorcycle clothing for 2011
Spies will be riding for the Yamaha factory team next yearBen Spies has confirmed that an official statement about switching from Tech 3 Yamaha to the motorcycle clothing of the factory team will be made this weekend.
The American rookie has impressed many in the MotoGP world, and after regularly placing in the top ten positions and beating factory bikes, his ascension to replace the departing Valentino Rossi is not unexpected.
Spies is looking forward to racing this weekend at Indianapolis and with the Tennessee native classing this as his home grand prix, he will receive huge support from the partisan crowd.
"For an American race I want to have my best results of the year in front of home fans. We’ll try as hard as we did at Brno and we just hope everything comes together so the home fans have something to cheer about," he told the MotoGP website.
Spies' move to the fastest bike in the fastest racing class will complete a remarkable rise, including winning the World Superbike Championship for Yamaha Italia in his debut season last year.
