Rossi's Ducati decision 'a big risk'
Ducati are 'taking a big risk' signing RossiValentino Rossi's decision to swap his Yamaha leathers for the iconic red motorcycle clothing of Ducati has heaped massive pressure on the Italian marque.
This is the view of Jerry Burgess, the man co-credited with driving Yamaha from also rans to the top of the MotoGP tree.
Talking to the Motorcycle News, he said that the combination of two Italian icons is going to create a demand for success or one party's reputation will be tarnished.
Burgess told the publication: "It was a big risk and well documented by Masao Furusawa at Yamaha when he took on Valentino in 2004.
"He knew if he didn't win on the Yamaha it would reflect back on Yamaha and I can't see that has changed in any way."
Rossi has been riding with specially modified motorcycle clothing which provides extra support to the leg he broke after a heavy fall at Mugello in June.
