Bikers told to invest in advanced motorcycle clothing
The airbag system was developed for pros such as LorenzoBikers have been urged to take advantage of the latest developments in motorcycle clothing to ensure they stay safe.
The airbag system introduced into Dainese leathers is one particular technological advance that riders should invest in, according to law firm Access Legal.
When a rider is parted from his bike the airbag system, which was originally developed for MotoGP riders such as Jorge Lorenzo, automatically inflates to shield the rider's torso from a heavy impact.
Rose Donoghue, partner and head of the firm's Catastrophic Injury Department, said that with this sort of protection available, it is "a must" for all bikers to invest in their safety.
Accidents can happen to even the most careful rider, so spending a little extra for the best protection is the sensible option, she explains.
"When acting for seriously injured clients, I often ask whether the outcome would have been different if their equipment had been better quality," Ms Rose adds.
Hertfordshire County Council recently urged riders to ensure they are wearing protective clothing at all times, even when tempted to strip off in hot weather.
