The end of speed cameras is proclaimed

Speed cameras are being turned off as public cuts biteLong a sore issue for bikers caught on camera in their motorcycle clothing, they will probably not be missed by many riders.
The Motorcycle News reports that public spending cuts and the government's determination to end the "war on the motorist" started by their predecessors have led to the move.
Oxfordshire's speed cameras will be off by August 1st, the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership, which operates the region's cameras, told the publication.
Devon and Cornwall will also be following suit after 40 staff were made redundant as the camera authority was shut down to save costs.
However, Road Safety charity Brake has recently expressed concerns that government spending cuts are endangering lives by closing "vital" road safety programmes.
