Army rucksack carried over motorcycle clothing for special relay
An army rucksack will be touring Britain in support of soldiersA special army rucksack, or Bergen, will be carried by a different biker on each of the 60 legs of the tour around Britain, in order to raise money for people in the armed forces and their families.
The event was organised by Andy Whaites, who himself has a son in the service and recognises the sacrifices that are made by those who have been killed or injured in the line of duty.
"It is an issue close to my heart as my own son has been a soldier in the British Armed Forces for over nine years and you hear and see the effects of the war firsthand," he explained.
More than 300 bikers have already signed up to join the rucksack, which has seen four tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, on part of its journey around the UK in September.
The residents of Redditch have also been asked to get involved with some motorcycle-related fundraising, as the local rider tuition company undertakes a 100-mile charity ride this weekend (July 25th).
