Bikers urged to stay safe this bank holiday weekend

Take care on country roads,bikers told.Particular care needs to be taken on country roads, especially those riders are unfamiliar with, it pointed out.
Crashes on these highways tend to be more serious and there are many hidden risks, the IAM warned.
High grass and overgrown hedges can make it difficult to see round corners and wildlife can be hazardous, pointed out IAM director of policy and research Neil Greig.
"Weekend riders should be aware that twice as many bikers die on rural roads than on urban roads. There are also more serious or fatal biker casualties at the weekend," he said.
Plan your route before leaving home and do not be tempted to ride beyond your capabilities and, of course, ensure your motorcycle clothing is up to the job.
