Drive carefully when overseas
Drive carefully when overseasWith the summer coming up quickly, even though you wouldn't tell thanks to the weather, it's time to think of a touring holiday in Europe.
There's nothing nicer than hitting some Mediterranean roads with all the twists and turns, but the rules of the roads are different overseas.
"Driving from London to Rome takes an exhausting 20 hours so preparing yourself and your car is essential. Check all of your lights are working and that your tyres have enough tread, aren't damaged and have the right pressure. Plan your journey to include rest stops, and if you’re tired, stop for a sleep," said Simon Elstow, head of training at IAM Drive & Survive.
He also recommended people swat up on driving rules, as it will soon be law to carry a NF certified breathalysers through France.
Drink driving laws are also tougher than they are in the UK, at 50mg per 100ml of blood, compared to 80mg in Britain.
