Rossi back in the saddle with specialist rider protection
Rossi is back on his bike after a broken legRacing legend Valentino Rossi has stunned MotoGP fans by returning to the track just one month after a compound fracture of his right leg.
Using specially made Dainese motorcycle leathers offering additional rider protection to his right leg and special motorcycle boots which accommodate his swollen foot, Rossi completed 24 laps of the Misano circuit, the Motorcycle News (MCN) reports.
It was back on June 5th at Mugello that Rossi went into a high-side flip on cold tyres, landing heavily and breaking his leg. At the time it was predicted that he would be out for up to six months.
Yet 32 days later the Italian was back, borrowing Cal Crutchlow's World Superbike Yamaha R1 to complete two sessions of ten and 14 laps.
MCN writer Michael Neeves witnessed the action, saying that the nine-times champion did not seem to be impeded by his leg or the specialist motorcycle clothing, although it remains to be seen when he will return to competition.
