Jorge Lorenzo is aiming for at least a podium when the Moto GP championship heads to Misano for the San Marino Grand Prix this weekend.

The Yamaha rider finds himself with a slight lead over rival Dani Pedrosa with just six races left in this year's championship.

With just 13 points between the two Spainards, the mind games are already starting as both teams make their preparations to secure an advantage.

"We had a great victory here last year and many podium finishes," said Lorenzo. "We must work hard this weekend to keep [the championship lead] and if possible to increase it. We will aim for the podium and if it is possible, the victory."

Pedrosa triumphed over Yamaha Factory Racing's Lorenzo on the Brno Circuit in August and is on the brink of breaking into the top ten list of all-time Grand Prix winners.

A victory in San Marino would not only close the gap in the championship, but would also take him within two wins of Lorenzo's total of 43 Grand Prix victories on the winner's table.
