Yamaha WR250R

If you live for the weekend, desperate to get away from the straight and narrow, the all new 2008 Yamaha WR250R is the motorbike you need to have waiting in the car park at 5pm on Friday.

This outrageous off-roader is clearly built for fun without compromise, from its unmistakable trial bike looks to its high revving fuel-injected engine. It's a motorcycle that seems to understand the frustration of your working week, and knows just what you need to do to get rid of it. So climb on, twist your wrist, and let it rip.

As the first Yamaha off-road motorcycle to come with electronic fuel injection, the WR250R is certainly up for it, revving greedily up to 10,000 rpm. But don't worry, Yamaha know how much you're going to love these motorbikes, so they've built them to last too, with titanium valves, forged piston, and a plated cylinder.

The huge 21" front wheel rides effortlessly on soft set off road suspension, with 46mm upside down forks soaking up every bump, taking the ups and downs of any trail in its stride. Another Yamaha first sees strength and rigidity added in abundance by a three section chassis consisting of a semi-double cradle frame, with an aluminium main frame and steel sub-frame.

30bhp originates from the specially designed four-valve cylinder head and is delivered smoothly by a six speed gearbox, with stopping provided by 250mm front wave discs.

These new motorcycles are built to take on more than just the occasional speed bump, with an impressive 300mm of ground clearance to keep you out of trouble - although with a huge 930mm seat height, you should be able to see most obstacles coming well in advance.

Yamaha motorcycles have always been known for their reliability and almost indestructible qualities, but with the WR250R they've taken these attributes to new heights. For powerful off-road fun there are few better choices. And you can still squeeze every moment out of the weekend by riding it to work on Monday morning.
