Suzuki GSX R1000

The Suzuki GSX-R1000 is the latest sportbike from the GSX-R series of Suzuki motorcycles. First released in 2001 to replace the GSX-1100, the 2008 model boasts significant improvements in power. Most notably, the engine has been increased to a 998cc, liquid-cooled four stroke engine offering 160 horsepower and a top speed of 290 km/h. The GSX-R1000's engine also has higher revving capabilities for superior acceleration thanks to its titanium valves, a gear box with closer ratios and a slipper clutch. Finally, the engine also features three different mapping configurations: “standard", “sport," and “wet" which has the capability to reduce power in adverse weather conditions.

The 2008 Suzuki GSX R1000 is 14 pounds heavier than passed models due to its new exhaust system that conforms to new emissions regulations. This increase in weight has, however, been countered by improved aerodynamics. The remodelled chassis is lighter and thinner than previous models and offers precise handling normally only found in a track bike. The new chassis also allows maximum ground clearance, and the upside down front forks and rear monoshocks are adjustable for stiffness. The addition of an adjustable swingarm pivot completes the 2008 GSX R1000's race-ready suspension.

As far as looks go, the front indicators on the Suzuki GSX-R1000 have been integrated into the rear view mirrors, while the headlight has been styled into a single arrowhead shape to give the bike a highly distinctive look with plenty of attitude.

The original GSX R1000 marked a milestone in superior performance, and this legacy has continued with the new 2008 model. With cutting edge technology and more agility than ever before, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 promises adrenalin junkies the ride of a lifetime.
