Suzuki DR-Z400SMPunchier than Joe Calzaghe, harder than Ross Kemp, and more indestructible than the bad guy in Terminator 2, the 2008 DR-Z400SM is a street fighter of a motorbike that you'd always want on your side in a scrap. The striking Supermoto styling Suzuki Motorcycles have given this machine show that it's ready for whatever the urban jungle can throw at it. Long travel, inverted Showa forks, and sticky radial tyres stand ready to soak up the stress of the street and keep you firmly on course. The DR Z400SM's lightweight 398cc, 4 stroke, liquid cooled, DOHC engine packs a heavyweight punch, with a broad spread of both power and torque, giving you enough nippy acceleration to tease the gridlocked traffic while still keeping some in reserve for those rare days when the road clears. With 38.8bhp and 28.2 ft/lb of torque intelligently controlled by a digitally mapped DC-CDI system for maximum efficiency, it's certainly sporty enough. And with massive 310mm floating front disc brakes - which are enough to stop the GSX-R1000 - you'll always be in complete control. This is a truly bullet-proof motorcycle, with Suzuki's Composite Electrochemical Material cylinder, and light weight magnesium-alloy clutch, magneto, and cam covers giving outstanding durability. An all-digital instrument panel sits below the Renthal tapered aluminium handlebars, giving you all the details of your ride, but chances are you'll rarely read it. This is a bike you ride on instinct, ducking and diving, dodging and weaving, enjoying the lithe handling, powerful performance and exquisite balance of these excellent new motorcycles. The only problem you'll have with the DR-Z400SM, is that after such an exciting ride to work, you'll probably spend all day watching the clock until it's time to mount up and enjoy it all over again on the way home.
