KTM Motorcycles has scored another hit with its 990 Supermoto, part of its ever-expanding supermoto range. Since its big launch at the NEC in Birmingham in November 2007, reviewers have raved about the groundbreaking design of the 2008 KTM 990 Supermoto.

The name of the KTM 990 Supermoto is fast becoming synonymous for power. Breaking away from the tradition of using a single cylinder engine in its supermoto bikes, KTM Motorcycles have used a 999cc V-twin engine, which gives the KTM 990 an amazing 134 brake horsepower. But this vast power is contained within a chassis that is ultra lightweight – according to the manufacturer the KTM 990 Supermoto is the lightest V-twin engine motorbike on the market today.

The 990 Supermoto is also fitted with an advanced fuel injection system and regulated catalyser that ensures the engine purrs like a tiger, but doesn't released harmful emissions into the environment.

The 2008 KTM 990 Supermoto is the big brother of the 950 SM that preceded it. The 990 Supermoto is vastly more powerful but also has some improvements that will please on a practical level. The fuel tank capacity, always a problem with supermoto bikes, has been increased to take 19 litres of unleaded petrol. The main chassis has been modified to give a longer travel suspension, so the KTM 990 motorbike is much more comfortable to ride. You will want to take it further than ever before, and will be able to without stopping for a refill. The Brembo radial mount brakes are the best you can get and give you the reassurance of safe stopping under even difficult road conditions.
