New bike from KTM - the 2008 KTM 990 Adventure

KTM motorcycles is an Austrian company with a long history and excellent reputation for power and quality. Fresh for 2008, they have released a new model, the KTM 990 Adventure.

This motorbike represents a progression from the KTM 950 Adventure, with a manual 6-speed gear box and powerful but lightweight LC8 990cc engine. With the KTM 990 Adventure EFI every ride will be an adventure as this fabulous new motorcycle looks set to live up to its name.

KTM has been a major player in motorcycle production since the 1930s and the company's enthusiasm and ability shows no sign of abating. The KTM 950 Adventure was highly praised, and KTM are confident that its 990cc successor will also set pulses racing.

The new KTM 990 Adventure is certainly not short of innovative features. In addition to the engine, which provides superb torque with only minimal weight, the advanced engine management system, includes electronic fuel injection (EFI), means the rider is always in control. And, thoughtful of environmental issues, KTM has built the KTM 990 Adventure with the latest technology, including a regulated catalyser, that minimises harmful emissions. 

The KTM Adventure series of off-road bikes is becoming more popular with British bikers. Those who have ridden the KTM 990 Adventure since its release early in 2008 have certainly been impressed. At the official launch at Fuertaventura, biker journalists and potential KTM 990 Adventure dealers got to ride the bike on all sorts of surfaces, on and off-road – even on white sand. They raved about the 2008 KTM 990 Adventure finding it easy to ride, highly focused, very safe, but incredibly exciting. The 2008 KTM 990 Adventure is available in two styles, the KTM 990 Adventure S as well as the standard model. Designed as the ultra sports machine, the 990 Adventure S has 'Dakar design' colours – blue and orange, and is more cut and thrust with longer suspension travel. The KTM 990 Adventure has extra safety features, including top-notch Brembo ABS brakes. Both models have the electronic fuel injection system and regulated catalyser as standard. KTM 990 Adventure dealers offer this model in a choice of colours – orange and grey, and black and grey.
