Ducati dealers must be delighted to be able to offer a bike that incorporates more World Superbike technology than ever before. It does this by taking the 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione engine and adding top-of-the-range suspension, lightweight chassis components, and a true racing-style traction control system designed for road use.
This new Ducati motorcycle not only has stunning looks but also performance figures to match. A ballistic 87.5lb-ft (11.7kgm) of torque, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Data analysis (DDA), Öhlins suspension, and much more, sets this apart as the most advanced naked bike in its class. The 1098S is the first road bike to be fitted with a full race-spec traction control system. The 1098 also features fully adjustable 43mm Showa forks, with an additional special low friction titanium oxide treatment applied to the sliders.
The Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system fitted on the 1098S takes 2009 bikes into a new stratosphere of performance. Nobody else has a 168bhp V-twin on its books, complete with traction control, and if they did it'd probably cost more than the £14,750 Ducati bikes cost. Several journalists have referred to the Streetfighter 1098S as the best V-twin ever made.
