Ducati 1098S

The 2008 Ducati 1098 is a motorcycle that demands respect - and not just from the drop-jawed fan club that will congregate around it every time you park. Delivering a truly massive 160bhp and almost winding you with a huge 90lbs/ft of torque for a top speed of 180 mph, and the best power to weight ratio around, this motorbike demands respect from the rider too.

Ducati Motorcycles have called on their vast experience in MotoGP and World Superbikes to completely redesign almost every part of the old 999 Testastretta engine to give the new 1098 Testastretta Evoluzione more power, more pull, and more pure racing exhilaration than ever before. A huge 104mm cylinder bore and all new cylinder head are just part of a complete overhaul that makes the 1098 the most powerful production V-Twin motorcycle ever made.

To compliment that pure power the 1098 has a whole host of firsts to make it a smoother, safer ride, even when you're hanging off the side on a crucial corner. For example, it's the first production motorcycle to have included the elliptical throttle bodies from Ducati's GP-6, and the first to incorporate the wealth of information provided by the datalogger dash from the Desmosedici GP-7.

It's also the first Ducati road bike to have the reassuring stopping power of the Brembo Monoblock brakes - four piston callipers cut from a single block of aluminium alloy - to keep you firmly in control.

Make no mistake; this Ducati has not been designed for the commuter or the ordinary motorbike owner - this is a street-legal racing bike for the real rider with oil in their veins and speed in their heart.
