Ducati 1098Launched at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan in November 2006, the Ducati 1098 Superbike is the latest Ducati motorcycle to replace the earlier 999 model. Focusing on maximising performance, every component on the 1098 has been streamlined to its bare essence. At 381 pounds and producing 160 horsepower, the Ducati 1098 is the lightest, quickest-lapping open superbike on the market, and also the most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle in the world. This new 2008 Ducati 1098 boasts superior speed capabilities largely thanks to its Testastretta Evoluzione 1099c L-twin engine. This is further enhanced by its highly aerodynamic shape, adding to its overall elegance. The fact that the 1098 was awarded the “Most Beautiful Motorcycle in Show" award at the same show where it was unveiled, is testimony to this. Overall, the look and feel of this latest 2008 Ducati motorcycle takes its inspiration from track technology, and components which have been blended with the traditional Ducati style. In addition to trademark Ducati motorbike features like the high tail section, compact front-end, and twin under-seat silencers, the Ducati 1098's single-sided swingarm uses individual aluminium castings to provide extra strength while keeping it light. The 1098 motorcycle is also the first production bike to use Brembo Monobloc brakes and an integrated data acquisition system. The Ducati 1098 Superbike is available in two versions: the standard 1098 with Showa suspension and alloy wheels, and the 1098S, offering even more performance with its Marchesini rims and top-class Ohlins suspension at both ends. Whichever model you choose, the 1098 Ducati superbike appeals to the senses, combining performance and innovation in a motorcycle that is an undisputed thrill to ride.
